The Best of Pamela Sargent

Description

Pamela Sargent wrote her first published story while still in college. Since then, her work has appeared in numerous science fiction journals and other publications, and she has written ten novels. The careful attention she gives to characterization allows her realistically to explore possible future societies and examine new relationships between the sexes. Joanna Russ, in a Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction review of Sargent's novel Cloned Lives, observes that Sargent, "reveals a talent for tracing the psychology and human relations of her characters, projecting a kind of ideal decency that is pleasant and refreshing." Sargent's most recent novel, The Shore of Women, was released in the fall of 1986 to favorable reviews. This new collection of her best short fiction consists mainly of stories never before available in book form. Readers will be fascinated by the characters and situations that Sargent presents.
